Costume Design/Styling Star Eric Daman

A successful TV show would not be possible without effective digital storytelling, and I am not talking about the acting. The wardrobe of a character contributes heavily to the plot and impact of a show. It is a costume designer/stylist's job to execute a characters personality through clothing. Their job is critical to telling the digital story of a show because they allow the viewer to understand what is going on without audio. For example, if a character is going through a depressing experience the viewer should be able to tell this through their dim clothing, messy hair and makeup and body language. Clothes can tell a story with conversation and emotion without even speaking. Let's take a look at my favorite costume designer/stylist who tells digital stories phenomenally.

Eric Daman

- Born 1970 (53)

- Emmy awarded costume stylist

- The Carrie Diaries, Gossip Girl and Sex and the City

- Attended the University of Paris

Coming from a Gossip Girl super fan, I have always admired the consistency of Blair Waldorf's wardrobe. Today, years after the show has aired, you will still find girls copying Blair’s iconic preppy style and aesthetics on social media based around her. Blair’s memorable persona would not have been possible without Eric Daman. Piecing together and designing outfits to capture her dynamic aura allowed viewers to better understand Blair as a person.

This Park Avenue princess is just one of many characters Eric Daman brought to life. In a interview with Cosmopolitan Daman shared how he found inspiration from being a wide eyed individual living in New York City. To better understand Daman's career and the connection to digital story telling let's take a look at the interview!

In conclusion Gossip Girl would not be so binge worthy without Eric Daman. A costume designer and stylist is crucial to the overall take away of a show.

See you next time angels!! <3
