Social Media and Fashion

As the social media world evolves daily, it is imperative to realize the opportunities opened for the fashion industry. Whether it is Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, or AI social media is everywhere, it consumes us. Personally, I feel social media has caused me to fall deeper in love with fashion. Through different social media platforms I have been given a space to discover my personal style and content create. Let's dive deeper into how social media has changed fashion in my life.

Discovering My Style:

Having Pinterest downloaded since middle school, you can always catch me scrolling. I believe Pinterest is the best form of social media to aid in developing your personal style. I believe this to be true because of the ability given to create your own mood boards. On Pinterest I have curated specific boards for seasons, trends I love, recent couture fashion shows, and daily obsessions. This allows me to draw inspiration for outfits and build my dream wardrobe to match my aesthetic. Not only can social media provide endless fashion inspiration, it also allows the public to get there hands on the products they want instantly. Online shopping promoted through social media apps can be incredibly detrimental due to fast fashion. But on the brighter side, one can find endless sustainable brands and fashion tips through these apps.

All social media can be a helping hand in formulating your style but Pinterest holds a place in my heart.

Content Creation:

Having dabbled in the modeling industry, i’ve always had a love for taking pictures. Creating a Instagram account and posting the romanticized version of my life came natrually. Growing my account, I then started to love the fashion side of instagram. Being able to connect with brands, designers, and other fashion lovers allowed me to experiment with a variety of styles. Posting my self-styled photo shoots and seeing how people would interact with my content sparked my interest in fashion styling. My fashion future oriented mindset remained as “Get Ready With Me” and “OOTD” videos started to trend on TikTok. I now felt I had a space to share my own daily outfits in hopes of inspires others! For example a week of outfits for classes below!

Overall social media was the pushing factor in my life to join the fashion industry. Social media allows fashion to be inclusive and innovative. Although it can have it's negatives, social media is a gift filled with opportunities. Social media has shaped my fashion taste and motivated my career.
